Mission at

Inner Thriving Holistic Psychology

(ITHP)

ITHP is a holistic psychology practice committed to fostering healing by nurturing the following fundamental layers of being:

“The hero journey is inside of you; tear off the veils and open the mystery of your self.”

-Joseph Campbell

Our main intention is to do our best to employ, empirically-validated, holistic treatments tailored to unique needs, to support every human who chooses to work with us in developing an internal grounding and sustenance that generate meaning and lasting growth.

Practice mantra:

“I am rooted, so I flow.”

How do we aim to achieve this?

Our mental health professionals have extensive training (e.g., many years of dedicated, personal practice with meditation, ongoing study of various psychological interventions, and/or Yoga posture, as well as, graduate level, academic, and clinical backgrounds) in a variety of therapies (see “Services & fees” section), that are empirically-validated. We endeavour to be:

Comprehensive - Considering biological, psychological, social, cultural factors that may underlie or exacerbate concerns.

Humanistic - Emphasizing and remaining receptive to every person’s innate worth and capacity for growth.

Cognitive-behavioural - Noticing and altering patterns of thinking that lead one to act in ways that benefit in the long-term.

Contemplative and mindfulness-focused - Gaining a healthy distance from the unhelpful aspects of mental chatter, generating genuine care for self and/or other, as well as, finding stillness within.

Somatically-oriented - Observing and/or soothing the body’s physiological reactivity.

Values-based - Anchoring into a sense of purpose that brings direction to life.

Overall, our practitioners can help you challenge maladaptive automatic thoughts, beliefs, and repetitive themes that tend to cycle in the mind, as well as, identify, understand, and make room for them, when necessary.

We can additionally aid you in recognizing the subconscious feelings that may underlie expressed emotion, in understanding the function of these, and in noticing and/or soothing physical cues that show up in certain contexts, so that you can take important steps in the direction of your dreams and aspirations.

Interventions will always be customized to suit your unique self, as deemed appropriate, and will be decided upon,

in collaboration between you and your therapist.

Clinic core values

When considering the practice logo, the lotus flower, seen as sacred in Eastern and South Asian traditions, we discover that it is capable of remaining steady, beneath muddy water due to the nourishment that has happened and continues to occur below and deep within. This analogy underscores how well-thought through intentions and commitments, when considered daily, can drive all subsequent outcomes.

“When the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind.”

- African Proverb

Using the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) code of ethics, as well as our own daily engagement with contemplative philosophy and embodiment through meditation: withdrawal of the senses and stilling of the whirlpools of thought and emotion to connect with internal wisdom; mindfulness: compassionate and curious awareness; regular reflection on personal and best practice standards, as our guide, in all actions, and decision making.

2) Continuing education - Endeavouring to use relevant resources (reading of books and scientific literature, watching of educational videos, consultation and supervision, workshops, and trainings) at our disposal to study, learn, and incorporate evolving information into the services we provide; to grow and improve in our profession, on a consistent basis.
